Copper Bar Weight Calculator

Calculate weight (kg) and cost for copper busbars, flat bars, round rods and tubes — unit conversions and batch calculations included.

Input Parameters

Enter cross-section width (per piece)

Enter thickness (height) of the bar

Length units — convert automatically

Density in kg/m³. Default pure copper = 8960 kg/m³.

Tip: use mm for busbars (e.g. width 40 mm, thickness 10 mm, length 1200 mm).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate weight for a rectangular busbar?

Convert width, thickness and length to meters, compute volume = width × thickness × length (m³) and multiply by density (kg/m³) to get weight in kg.

Why do I need to choose units carefully?

Different tools mix mm/inches which causes errors. This calculator converts all inputs to meters internally to ensure consistency.

Can I use a custom density?

Yes — choose 'Custom' in the density preset and enter density in kg/m³ (for example, 8960 for pure copper).

Is cost calculation accurate?

Cost is a simple product of total weight and price per kg. For final procurement, add processing, cut loss and supplier margins.

What shapes are supported?

Rectangular flat bars, round bars and hollow/tube profiles. For complex extrusions use section area from manufacturer and input the area as width×thickness equivalent.

How do I export results?

Use the 'Copy Result' or 'Download' buttons to export a text summary. Keyboard shortcuts are available for faster workflows.
