Blockchain Cost Comparison
Ethereum L1
- • Gas: 20-100+ gwei
- • Deploy: $50-500+
- • Highest security
- • Most liquidity
L2 Rollups
- • Gas: 0.01-0.1 gwei
- • Deploy: $0.50-10
- • ETH security
- • Growing ecosystem
Alt L1s
- • Gas: 1-50 gwei
- • Deploy: $0.01-5
- • Own security model
- • Specific ecosystems
When to Use This Calculator
Budget Planning
Launching a token? Know exactly how much ETH you need for mainnet deployment before writing the check.
Chain Selection
Arbitrum vs Polygon vs Base? Compare deployment costs to pick the right chain for your budget.
Optimize Contracts
See how bytecode size affects cost. Justify spending time on gas optimization.
Time Your Deploy
Gas at 100 gwei now vs 20 gwei on Sunday? Calculate savings from waiting.
Client Quotes
Building for clients? Provide accurate deployment cost estimates in your proposals.

Deploying 5 contracts? Calculate total cost for your entire protocol deployment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my contract so expensive?
Likely causes: Large bytecode (inheritance bloat), many storage slots in constructor, deploying during high gas. Check your compiled bytecode size.
What's the 24KB limit?
EIP-170 limits contract bytecode to 24KB. If you hit this, split into multiple contracts or use libraries. Diamond pattern helps for complex systems.
Optimizer runs - what number?
Low runs (1-200): Cheaper deploy, costlier calls. High runs (1000+): Costlier deploy, cheaper calls. Use 200 for most cases, 1000+ for heavily-used contracts.
Is L2 deployment the same?
Same gas units, much cheaper gas price. Arbitrum/Optimism use ETH, so same bytecode costs ~95% less. Some L2s have slightly different opcodes.
When is gas cheapest?
Weekends, especially Sunday. Early morning UTC (US sleeping, Asia not yet active). Avoid: US market hours, NFT mints, major token launches.
Does verification cost gas?
No, Etherscan verification is off-chain and free. But verified contracts build trust. Always verify your mainnet deployments.
