When to Use This Calculator
Campaign Performance Review
Pull your campaign data from Seller Central and plug it in here. See your real ACoS, ROAS, and whether you're actually making money. Many sellers are surprised to find their "successful" campaigns are losing money.
Setting Keyword Bids
Don't guess on bids. Calculate your break-even CPC based on your margins and conversion rate. Bid below that to ensure every click has profit potential. Overbidding is the fastest way to burn ad budget.
Launch Budget Planning
Launching a new product? Calculate how much ad spend you need to hit your revenue targets. Know your daily budget before you start so you don't run out mid-campaign or overspend on day one.
Scaling Decisions
Campaign doing well? Before scaling, check if your ACoS is below break-even. A 25% ACoS looks good until you realize your margin is only 20%. Scale profitable campaigns, pause the losers.
Competitor Analysis
Estimate competitor ad costs. If top keywords cost $2/click and conversion is 10%, they need 30%+ margins to break even. This tells you if you can compete profitably in that space.
Troubleshooting Poor Performance
High ACoS? Low ROAS? This calculator shows which metric is the problem. Is it CPC too high? Conversion too low? CTR poor? Diagnose the issue before throwing more money at it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is ACoS?
Advertising Cost of Sale = Ad Spend รท Ad Revenue ร 100. If you spend $100 on ads and make $400 in sales, ACoS is 25%. Lower is better. Your break-even ACoS equals your profit margin.
What is ROAS?
Return on Ad Spend = Ad Revenue รท Ad Spend. It's the inverse of ACoS. ROAS of 4.0 means $4 revenue per $1 spent (same as 25% ACoS). Higher is better. Target minimum 2.5-3.0 for profitability.
How much should I bid per click?
Calculate: Price ร Margin ร Conversion Rate = Max CPC. Example: $30 ร 30% ร 10% = $0.90 max. Bid 70-80% of this for profit buffer. Start lower and increase if you're not getting impressions.
What's a good conversion rate?
Amazon PPC conversion rates typically range 5-15%. Below 5% suggests listing issues. Above 15% is excellent. Branded keywords convert higher (15-25%), generic keywords lower (5-10%).
How long before I see results?
Give campaigns 2-3 weeks minimum before making major changes. Amazon's algorithm needs time to optimize. Gather at least 1,000 impressions and 20+ clicks before judging keyword performance.
Should I use automatic or manual campaigns?
Start with automatic to discover keywords, then move winners to manual campaigns with exact match. Use automatic for discovery, manual for control. Most sellers run both simultaneously.
