Frequently Asked Questions
What is IndexNow?
IndexNow is a protocol that allows website owners to instantly inform search engines about content changes on their website. It helps search engines quickly discover new, updated, or deleted content without waiting for regular crawling, reducing the time from content publication to search engine indexing.
Which search engines support IndexNow?
IndexNow is supported by Microsoft Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam.cz, Yep, and Amazon. When you submit URLs to one IndexNow endpoint, they are automatically shared with all participating search engines, so you only need to submit once.
Do I need an API key for IndexNow?
Yes, you need an API key to verify ownership of your website. The key must be 8-128 hexadecimal characters long and hosted as a text file named {your-key}.txt in your website's root directory. You can generate a key from Bing's IndexNow portal.
How often can I submit URLs?
Avoid submitting the same URL multiple times per day. For frequently updated pages, wait at least 10 minutes between submissions. For constantly changing content like live feeds or real-time data, IndexNow may not be suitable as it could trigger rate limiting.
Does IndexNow guarantee indexing?
No, IndexNow only notifies search engines about changes. Search engines may choose not to crawl or index URLs based on their selection criteria, crawl quotas, and content quality guidelines. IndexNow improves discovery speed but doesn't guarantee indexing.
Can I submit deleted pages or redirects?
Yes, you can submit URLs for deleted pages (404, 410 errors) and redirected pages (301, 302 redirects) to notify search engines about these changes. This helps search engines update their indexes more quickly and remove outdated content.
Is this IndexNow tool free?
Yes, our IndexNow submission tool is completely free to use. There are no limits on submissions, no registration required, and all features including bulk URL submission and detailed reporting are available at no cost.
