Pumping Tips & Guidelines
120 Minute Rule
Aim for at least 120 minutes of total pumping time per day to maintain milk supply. This can be divided into 6 sessions of 20 minutes each.
Night Pumping
Prolactin levels are highest between 1am-5am. Including at least one night session can significantly boost milk production.
Power Pumping
To increase supply: pump 20 mins, rest 10 mins, pump 10 mins, rest 10 mins, pump 10 mins. Do this once daily for 3-5 days.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Keep a water bottle nearby during pumping sessions to stay hydrated.
Nutrition
Eat a balanced diet with enough calories. Some foods like oats, fennel, and fenugreek may help boost milk supply.
Rest & Relax
Stress can negatively affect milk supply. Try to rest when possible and practice relaxation techniques during pumping.
